VICENZA, Italy — A soldier assigned to the 173rd Airborne Brigade’s support battalion was found guilty of rape and sentenced to a year in jail in a general court-martial this week.

Pvt. Kevin Sizemore, assigned to the 173rd Support Battalion at Caserma Ederle, entered a not guilty plea, according to a release from the Southern European Task Force (Airborne) public affairs office. But a military judge found him guilty in the court-martial held Tuesday and Wednesday.

Sizemore also will lose all pay and allowances, be reduced in rank to E-1 and receive a bad-conduct discharge.

The incident took place in February, shortly before most of the brigade deployed for a yearlong mission to Afghanistan, a SETAF spokesman said Friday.
