CAMP RED CLOUD, South Korea — Soldiers who recently moved north to Camp Stanley from Camp Humphreys will get their first taste of Warrior Country fun at an Oktoberfest party next month.

The Camp Stanley Community Activities Center will host its 3rd Annual Volksmarch and Oktoberfest on Oct. 10 in the parking lot, Area I officials said.

It will be the first large-scale entertainment event at the facility since the departure in recent months of several 2nd Infantry Division units, including the Fires Brigade, 6th Battalion, 37th Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Battalion, 38th Field Artillery Regiment and 1st Battalion, 2nd Aviation Regiment.

In August, command of Camp Stanley passed to the 501st Corps Support Group, which has moved its headquarters to the base along with the 498th Combat Support Battalion, 46th Transportation Company, 61st Maintenance Company, 305th Quartermaster Company, Detachment A of the 168th Medical Company, 304th Signal Battalion, and the 15th Korean Service Corps Company, officials said.

The Oktoberfest starts with a 6.2-mile (10k) run/walk followed by the traditional tapping of the first keg of beer by new installation commander Col. Jayne Carson of Annandale, Va.

Traditional German music will be played and German food will be sold. A live band, DJ and dancing also are on tap, officials said.
