A 36-year-old male prisoner died Tuesday morning at the U.S. military prison on Camp Bucca, Iraq, officials said.

The man died of natural causes, the U.S. military said in a news release.

According to Lt. Col. Keir- Kevin Curry, spokesman for detainee operations, the man was found unconscious by fellow detainees when they tried to awaken him for prayer. When he didn’t wake, the detainees carried him to the guards, Curry said, who summoned medics, and the man was taken to the facility’s hospital. By then, he was in full cardiac arrest, authorities said.

The man “died after all life-saving efforts failed to resuscitate him,” officials said.

The man died at 4:26 a.m., and his remains will be transferred to his family after an autopsy.
