ARLINGTON, Va. — Beginning next week, sailors will need their Common Access Cards to access the Navy’s online Career Management System.

The system allows sailors to find jobs within the Navy, said Mike McLellan, a spokesman for Navy Personnel Command.

The move is intended to protect sailors’ personal information and enhance the Navy computer systems’ security, according to NAVADMIN (Navy Administrative Announcement) 279/06.

The Navy began requiring CAC cards to log on to Navy computers in May 2006, and all computers should have CAC logons by 2010.

McLellan said if sailors do not have CAC cards, they should contact those within their commands responsible for issuing identification cards.
