They are in the air within seven minutes. Their helicopters are on site loading trauma victims within 12 minutes. The C Company of the 2nd Battalion, 4th Aviation Regiment, 4th Infantry Division, remains the busiest air ambulance crew in Iraq. Based out of Camp Taji, the company flies emergency missions throughout each day, moving the sick and wounded to medical care and often putting themselves in danger. Over the summer, a C Company ambulance crew made an exceptionally brave rescue even by medevac standards when it rescued Iraqi police from a burning building in Baghdad. This is their story.
