Yokota to offer shuttle service to Tama HillsYOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan — The Tokyo shuttle bus service that makes daily stops at the New Sanno Hotel and at Hardy Barracks also will stop at the Tama Hills Recreation Center on Wednesday through Sunday.
Tickets to Tokyo cost $5 for SOFA-status personnel and $7 for others. Passengers going only to and from Tama Hills ride for free. For schedule information call 225-7720.
Memorial service to be held for retired MarineCAMP FOSTER, Okinawa — Retired Navy pilot Lt. Cmdr. Larry Alsop, 86, died Thursday after a brief illness at the U.S. Naval Hospital Okinawa on Camp Lester.
A service is scheduled for Sunday at 11 a.m. at the Camp Lester Chapel.
Alsop, 86, was the volunteer director for retired activities at the Marine Corps Community Services Personal Services Center and had been a volunteer at retiree organizations for more than 20 years.
He received the President’s Call to Service Award in April in recognition for his more than 4,000 hours of volunteerism.
“People say to me ‘Why do you do all this and don’t get paid for it?,’” Alsop was quoted in a Marine report on the April 19 award ceremony. “But I do get paid for it, with two words: ‘Thank you.’ When you get a thank you, you know you’ve done your job.”

Teens will hear about volunteer and paid jobs, sports and trips available to them while they’re out of school. Door prizes will be given away.
