Kaiserslautern, Germany, will hold a May Market festival from May 11-21 at its fairgrounds near Barbarossaring and am Messeplatz. About 145 carnival rides, vendors and the like will be on hand.

The fest kicks off at 6 p.m. on May 11 with the tapping of a beer keg. A limited amount of free beer will be available after the keg-tapping near the festival’s bistro tent. May 16 is family day with specials and reduced prices. On May 18, one U.S. dollar will equal one euro for rides or vendors that display “today dollar day” signs.

Weekday hours are 2 p.m. to midnight. On weekends, the fest begins at 1 p.m., and on Saturdays the festivities end at 1 a.m. Fireworks will be launched just after 10 p.m. on the opening and closing days.
