Briefs:Soldier faces homicide charge
VICENZA, Italy — Italian authorities have charged a soldier from the Southern European Task Force (Airborne) with negligent homicide and fleeing the scene of a crime.
Spc. Torrie Robertson, 30, a communications specialist with the 13th Military Police Company, was charged by Italian authorities, according to a news release issued by the SETAF public affairs office. The charges stem from a motor vehicle accident March 31 that killed one person and injured two others.
Maj. Ryan Dillon, SETAF public affairs officer, said American authorities were cooperating with their Italian counterparts. He said Robertson had been charged with the crimes this week but was not in Italian custody.
Contestants gear up for USAFE Idol contestRAMSTEIN, Germany — The third annual U.S. Air Forces in Europe Idol Contest takes place April 14, at 7 p.m., in the Ramstein Officers’ Club. The winners of the base-level competitions will train during three days of workshops conducted by the USAFE Band. “American Idol” season four finalist Anthony Fedorov will make an appearance on April 14.
