The 2007 Relay for Life committee at Yokosuka Naval Base is looking for volunteers to organize and help at its Sept. 29 event.

Teams from any base unit or organization also are being formed. The relay runs from 5 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next day. Last year’s relay raised more than $61,000 for the American Cancer Society.

Flight operations continue at AtsugiYOKOSUKA, JAPAN — Because of inclement weather at Iwo Jima and additional operational requirements, Field Carrier Landing Practice will continue at Naval Air Atsugi from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. from May 14-15, according to the U.S. Navy.

2nd ID soldier jailed in assualtCAMP CASEY, South Korea — A 2nd Infantry Division soldier was found guilty of assault and sentenced to four months in jail late Wednesday night at the Camp Casey courtroom.

Pfc. Richard Butler, of the 302nd Brigade Support Battalion’s Bravo Company, punched three different soldiers on separate occasions last year, according to court documents.

Butler also was reduced in rank to E-1 and must pay a $500 fine for each month of confinement.
