Briefs: Regiment lauded for safety programs
The Navy League of the United States recently recognized Combat Logistics Regiment 35 for its safety programs.
The unit, part of the 3rd Marine Logistics Group, was given the Navy League’s annual Marine Corps safety award for initiatives such as a motorcycle mentorship program that teams novice riders with experienced ones and an ammunition cleanup project that saved the Marine Corps $5 million.
The unit’s commanding officer, Col. Robert Ruark, and its safety officer, Gunnery Sgt. Izial Toles, accepted the award last week at the Navy League Sea-Air-Space Exposition in Washington.
