Yokota clubs to hold Christmas party lotteryYOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan — A lottery will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday at the Yokota Officers Club to determine the dates for all club Christmas parties to be held at either the officers club or enlisted club. Names will be drawn to determine the order in which organizations can pick their dates for their Christmas parties.

Hold ’em tournament slated for YokotaYOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan — The Yokota Enlisted Club will hold a Texas Hold’em tournament through October and November. Players can sign up for one of eight preliminary rounds, which will be held at 5 p.m. on Oct. 7, 14, 21 and 28 and Nov. 4, 11, 18 and 25.

The top three finishers in each of the preliminary rounds will play in the championship round at 6 p.m. Nov. 30. The overall winner of the tournament will win a trip to the Pacific Air Forces Championship Jan. 23-27 at Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii.

The tournament is free and open to members of the officer and enlisted clubs. Sign-ups begin Friday, with seats limited to 24 players per preliminary round.

Sakana Pool switches to ‘back-to-school’ hoursYOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan — Yokota’s Sakana Pool will switch to “back-to-school hours” beginning Monday before closing for the season on Sept. 4.

The new hours of operation will be from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 1-2.

The pool will open Sept. 3 from 10 a.m. to noon for open swimming. At noon, the pool will be open for dogs to swim until 4 p.m.

Zama to hold music festivalCAMP ZAMA, Japan — Camp Zama will hold a two-day music festival Sept. 22-23 at Sagami General Depot. More than 17 acts will perform, including All4One, Drew Seeley from the movie “High School Musical,” Japanese favorite Inspi and Hawaii’s HAPA. Armed Forces Entertainment artists will include Stanley Baird, Entice, Trip Davon and Yokota’s Just as Nice.

Admission is free to all status of forces agreement ID holders and Japanese base personnel employed by U.S. Army Garrison-Japan. For anyone else interested in attending, admission into the concert area will be 500 yen for adults and 300 yen for children ages nine to 14.

Advanced tickets can be purchased at the Camp Zama Community Club beginning Saturday.
