Briefs: Girl Scouts start new outdoor club
The USA Girl Scouts Overseas is starting an outdoor and high-adventure club on Okinawa for sixth-grade girls.
Club members will participate in include camping, backpacking, climbing and rappelling, according to Robin Miller, director of membership and marketing for USA Girl Scouts Overseas-West Pacific.
The club is seeking adult volunteers with camping, climbing and other outdoor skills to act as club advisers, Miller said Monday.

Animal shelter to hold adoption eventThe Okinawa American Animal Rescue Society will host an adoption event Saturday at Camp Courtney, according to a news release from the group.
Dogs and cats in need of a good home will be available for adoption from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in front of the Courtney post exchange and commissary.

F-15s to leave Kadena for the United StatesFour F-15s and an air-refueling aircraft were scheduled to leave Kadena Air Base early Tuesday morning for the United States, according to an Air Force release on Monday.
The aircraft left as part of the Iron Flow program, in which Kadena is switching out older model F-15s for newer jets, according to the release. The four older F-15s were assigned to the Air National Guard.
