CAMP CASEY, South Korea — A memorial service for Staff Sgt. Ricky Fox will be held at Camp Casey’s Schoonover Bowl at 9:30 a.m. Friday, 2nd Infantry Division officials said Tuesday.

Fox, of Company G, 302nd Brigade Support Battalion, was found dead in his barracks room Friday.

In case of bad weather, the ceremony will be moved to Carey Gym and start at 10:30 a.m.

Mandatory briefings set for brain injuries, PTSDCAMP RED CLOUD, South Korea — Required briefings on mild traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress disorder are scheduled for August and September, Area I officials said Tuesday.

Area I military and civilian employees are required to attend one of the briefings, officials said.

Meetings will be from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Friday and Sept. 20 at the Camp Casey Theater, and from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Aug. 30 and Sept. 6 at the Camp Red Cloud Theater.

Attendees must sign a roster at the theater door to receive attendance credit.

Fast-food changes near Osan commissaryOSAN AIR BASE, South Korea — The Burger King near Osan’s commissary was to close Wednesday.

The same day, a trailer selling Burger King items was to open next to the Osan Shopping Mall, according to Steven Pena, general manager for the Army and Air Force Exchange Service at Osan.

The Popeye’s near the commissary also was to close in coming days, Pena said.

Demolition of both stores is scheduled to begin Sept. 4. A permanent Burger King is planned to open near the shopping mall in May, Pena said.

Futenma to host annual Flightline FairThe annual Futenma Flightline Fair is scheduled for Aug. 25 and 26 at Marine Corps Air Station Futenma, Okinawa, according to a Marine Corps Community Services release.

The fair will run from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. Aug. 25 and 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. Aug. 26. Admission is free and the event is open to the public.

Entertainment will include game and food booths, amusement rides, a kiddie land, live music, prizes and a fireworks display, according to the release.

This year’s fair will include a hot-dog eating contest Aug. 26 at 5:30 p.m. The contest is open to status of forces personnel, who must register by Aug. 22 at participating MCCS clubs or restaurants.

An open bench-press competition will be held Aug. 25, and an arm-wrestling contest will be Aug. 26. Early registration, for $10, ends Friday at 4:30 p.m. at any MCCS athletic facility. Late registration will be accepted at the events for $15. For more information about the athletic events, call DSN 636-2672.

Pets, bottles, outside alcohol, backpacks and coolers are not allowed at the fair, according to the release.

Memorial service set for former teacherA memorial service will be held next week for a former Amelia Earhart Intermediate School teacher who passed away recently in the States, officials said.

Jackie Harper, who was an art teacher, died of a heart attack July 19 in her Bremerton, Wash., home. She was 63.

Harper taught at Amelia Earhart for 22 years.

“Jackie will be missed greatly by her family and friends in Washington state, her colleagues and friends in Okinawa, and all of her students, both past and present,” said Henry Meyer, spokesman for the DODDS-Okinawa district.

The memorial service is scheduled for 4 p.m. Aug. 22 at Chapel Three on Kadena Air Base.
