The tropical disturbance forecasters were monitoring 200 miles southeast of Okinawa has weakened, and further development is unlikely, military forecasters said Thursday.

On Thursday morning, U.S. military bases on the island slipped back into their seasonal Tropical Cyclone Condition of Readiness 4 status.

Rain showers and gusty winds were still expected from the system Friday afternoon, but “nothing out of the ordinary,” said Capt. Jonathan Wilson, commander of the 18th Wing’s weather flight at Kadena Air Base.

Japanese class at Camp Kinser canceledThe Japanese class at the Camp Kinser Personal Services Center scheduled for Wednesday evenings during September from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. has been canceled, according to a Marine release Thursday.

An instructor was not available, according to the release.
