STUTTGART, Germany — Army Maj. Gen. P.K. (Ken) Keen on Wednesday was named director of operations for U.S. European Command, the command announced on Thursday.

Keen replaced Rear Adm. Richard K. Gallagher, who in August became EUCOM’s deputy commander. Keen was previously commander for U.S. Army South at Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

In his new job, Keen will be responsible for informing and advising EUCOM’s commander, Gen. Bantz J. Craddock, on operational issues affecting U.S. forces within the command’s 92-country area of responsibility, as well as issues affecting the command’s support of NATO.
