Bridge, road work to affect Heidelberg motorists
Demolition of an old bridge will close the A-5 between Heidelberg Kreuz and Walldorf, Germany, over the Thanksgiving weekend.
Construction of the new bridge will close the road from Patrick Henry Village to Bruchhausen, Sandhausen and Leimen for at least a year, authorities said.
The temporary closure of that portion of A-5 near Heidelberg will last from 8 p.m. Saturday until 8 p.m. Sunday when the bridge that spans the autobahn comes down.
The yearlong closure of the road from PHV’s commissary gate traveling southeast means that drivers will have to use a bypass road — B-535 — that goes toward Boxberg and Leimen east, then go south to Bruchhausen, or take the lengthier alternative, via Schwetzingen.
