PYEONGTAEK, South Korea — The Army at Camp Carroll in Waegwan will host the 2006 Crown Jewel Invitational boxing smoker Saturday starting at 7 p.m. at the installation’s fitness center.

The card features bouts ranging from light flyweight (106 pounds) to super heavyweight (201 pounds “plus”) in both the novice and open divisions, said Carlos Algarin, Camp Carroll’s sports, fitness and aquatics director. Novices are those with a record of fewer than 10 fights; the open division is for those with 10 or more.

The card is open to male and female U.S. soldiers and South Korean troops assigned to the U.S. Army.

Mandatory weigh-ins and physical exams are scheduled from 10-11:30 a.m.

Each bout will consist of three two-minute rounds in both the novice and open categories. Current U.S.A. Boxing Incorporated rules will govern the competition.

Call Algarin at DSN 765-8118 or 765-8287 for more information.
