Col. Michael R. Boera, the previous 35th Operations Group commander at Misawa Air Base, Japan, is to assume command of the 36th Air Expeditionary Wing at Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, during a change-of-command ceremony Monday.

Boera replaces Col. P.K. White, who heads to the University of Washington in Seattle to lead the school’s ROTC detachment.

During White’s 19 months as Andersen’s wing commander, the base ramped up operations tempo with the arrival of the first B-52s from the United States in February 2004 to enhance regional security. The wing has since hosted a continuous bomber rotation, in addition to F-15E Strike Eagles, KC-135s and numerous temporary duty personnel.

At Misawa, Boera, as operations group commander, oversaw the most significant avionic upgrades ever to the 35th Fighter Wing’s 40 F-16s — the Common Configuration Implementation Program, or CCIP.

Maj. Gen. Edward Rice Jr., 13th Air Force commander, is scheduled to preside over the change-of-command ceremony, set to begin at 9 a.m. in Hangar One.
