BAUMHOLDER, Germany — Recently back from Afghanistan, the Baumholder, Germany-based 170th Infantry Brigade Combat Team celebrated in style at the Bayonet Brigade Blowout, Friday, with kids’ activities, food, drinks, free rides and evening concerts by Taking Back Sunday and Nicole Frechette.
Intermittent rain that turned into a steady midafternoon drizzle did not do much to dampen the party spirit. Participants — protected by umbrellas — stood in long lines for food and rides, or took their turn at karaoke in the fest tent.
The brigade — one of two combat brigades that will depart Germany as part of a larger military restructuring — is scheduled to inactivate in October.
