BAUMHOLDER, Germany — Families who are curious about community services can learn more on Saturday when the U.S. Army Garrison at Baumholder holds an annual informational fair.

The CARE (Community Awareness Registration Event) Fair will be held 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Hall of Champions. More than 40 organizations participate.

“This is your one chance to shop around and learn about all the different services in the community,” said LaWanda Cooper of Baumholder’s Morale Welfare Recreation Department.

The event has all of the post’s service providers in one place. The goal is to give families easy access to information and a place to register for everything from cell phone service to MWR trips and health care programs.

“It’s your one-stop shop as opposed to driving around to each and every program,” Cooper said.

Raffles will be held to help lure the masses. Cell phones and DVD players are among the items to be given away, Cooper said. The idea is to create a fun atmosphere that brings the community together, she said.

Volunteer and employment opportunities also will be showcased.

“When you have all these new people and families, there are going to be people looking for jobs and wanting to get involved,” Cooper said.
