A 1st Infantry Division soldier died Monday in a Nuremberg hospital, two days after falling from the third-floor window of his room at Warner Barracks in Bamberg, Germany.

Sgt. Perry Martin, 26, of the 1st Battalion, 33rd Field Artillery Regiment, had fallen from his window at about 6:45 a.m. on Saturday and was medically evacuated by helicopter about an hour later, according to a news release issued by the division’s public affairs office.

The release stated the incident is being investigated by military police and senior leaders of his unit and gave no further information about the circumstances surrounding the fall.

A memorial service for Martin, who was a nuclear, biological and chemical training supervisor with the 1-33 Field Artillery’s headquarters battery, is scheduled for 3 p.m. Wednesday at Warner Barracks’ Family Life Chapel.

He is survived by his parents, who live in San Diego.
