(Tribune News Service) — Womack Army Medical Center is limiting visitations in a couple of its units as a precaution related to the new coronavirus, officials announced Friday.

Only one adult guest is allowed to visit the center's labor and delivery and women and newborn care units effectively immediately, officials said.

The visitor limitation is a preventive measure to protect patients and visitors from the new coronavirus, called COVID-19, officials said.

The neonatal intensive care unit will only allow the mother one person who she chooses to enter the unit.

"Unfortunately, at this time children are not permitted to visit any of these units," officials said. "Thank you for your understanding and supporting our goal of keeping our mothers and newborns safe."
