Another soldier assigned to the 1st Brigade, 1st Armored Division has died of wounds suffered in Ramadi, Iraq, the U.S. military command in Baghdad said Tuesday.

The soldier, whose name is being withheld until his family is notified, died “due to wounds sustained from enemy action” during fighting on Sunday, officials said.

1st Armored Division soldiers have been involved in heavy fighting at times as they tighten a security zone inside the city. Ramadi, a hotbed of insurgent activity since the beginning of the war, is the capital of Anbar province, west of Baghdad.

Troops from the Germany-based division had originally deployed to Sinjar and Tal Afar in the north, then were shifted to Ramadi to begin the new operation.
