Abe may meet Xi, Putin next week in Vladivostok

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said Monday that arrangements are being made to hold separate bilateral meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum scheduled to be held from Sept. 11 to 13 in Vladivostok, Russia.
Abe referred to the possible talks at a liaison meeting between the government and ruling parties, which was held around noon on the day. Abe is scheduled to visit Vladivostok from next Monday to Sept. 13.
"I'm resolved to advance the process toward the conclusion of a peace treaty [with Russia]," Abe said at the meeting. The prime minister is also expected to confirm cooperation with Moscow over issues related to North Korea.
Abe said arrangements are also being made to meet with South Korean Prime Minister Lee Nak Yon and Mongolian President Khaltmaagiin Battulga.
