RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany — An American employee of the Ramstein Air Base services division was killed Sunday in a four-car crash on a road near Vogelweh, U.S. Air Force officials said.

Five other people were involved in the crash, including another American who was not injured, according to a news release issued by the base command. One German was also injured and taken to a local hospital, officials said. There was no information Sunday on the extent of the German’s injuries.

U.S. officials were withholding the American employee’s name and other information until family members have been notified.

The accident occurred around noon Sunday on the B-40 near Vogelweh, officials said. Members of both the 569th U.S. Forces Police Squadron and the Logenstrasse Polizei responded to the scene and began a joint investigation.
