The U.S. ambassador to England will be the guest speaker May 15 at the closing ceremony for London Central Elementary-High School, the oldest American school still operating in the United Kingdom.

Robert Holmes Tuttle will make remarks at the 1:30 p.m. ceremony, according to a release from the Department of Defense Dependents Schools.

All alumni, family and friends sharing a connection to London Central are invited to attend.

The school, which includes dorms for students whose parents are stationed at isolated points around the globe, is closing its doors as a result of U.S. Navy and Air Force units downsizing in the London area. The ceremony will offer alumni the chance to reminisce about the school and reflect on the history of the institution, which has operated in and around London since the Cold War.
