Nearly three dozen Air Force reservists from Alaska were on Guam in recent weeks to help with construction for the 554th Red Horse Squadron at Andersen Air Force Base’s Northwest Field, according to a press release from the 477th Fighter Group in Alaska.
The 477th Civil Engineer Squadron, based out of Elmendorf Air Force Base, deployed in two groups in March and April to help with the $200 million project, the release said.
This new Expeditionary Combat Support Campus at Andersen will also be home to the 607th Combat Communications Squadron, the 607th Commando Warrior Squadron and the 554th Red Horse Squadron, Detachment 1.
The construction is scheduled to be finished in about two years, Air Force officials have said.
