AVIANO AIR BASE, Italy — An airman assigned to the 31st Aircraft Maintenance Squadron was found guilty on drug charges in a special court-martial last month.

Airman 1st Class Jerrene Sansom pleaded guilty to charges of wrongful use of cocaine and wrongful distribution of cocaine. She also pleaded guilty of wrongful use of methamphetamine.

Charges of wrongful distribution of methamphetamine and conspiracy to possess cocaine were dropped as part of a pre-trial agreement.

She was sentenced to 12 months confinement and forfeiture of all pay. Sansom was also reduced in rank to E-1 and given a bad-conduct discharge.

Sansom is the seventh airman to be sentenced on drug charges at the northern Italy air base over the last several months following the culmination of a drug sting in December 2003.

More trials are scheduled this month.
