Airman’s daughter, 5, hit by auto near Aviano
AVIANO AIR BASE, Italy − The 5-year-old daughter of an airman stationed at Aviano Air Base was struck by a car Tuesday morning while waiting for a bus to take her to school.
She was taken by helicopter to an Italian hospital in Trieste, according to an online report by Il Gazzettino, a local Italian newspaper. Officials at the hospital declined to provide the girl’s condition.
The online report said the child had apparently gotten away from a parent at the stop near her home in Polcenigo and wandered into the road, where she was struck by a car.
Second Lt. Brian Wagner, a 31st Fighter Wing spokesman, confirmed the details surrounding the accident.
