Airman pleads guilty to drug charges
AVIANO AIR BASE, Italy — An airman assigned to the 31st Logistics Readiness Squadron pleaded guilty to an array of illegal-drug use charges in a general court-martial last month.
Airman Evelyn A. Cantu was sentenced to a reduction in rank to E-1, 15 months of confinement and a bad-conduct discharge. The court-martial ended March 24.
Cantu was charged with specifications of using marijuana, Ecstasy, mushrooms, cocaine and methamphetamine. She entered a not-guilty charge to the cocaine usage and the court agreed with her. She also pleaded guilty to making a false statement.
The charges stemmed from incidents in the first six months of 2005, some of them taking place in Slovenia.
