RAF MILDENHALL, England — A 100th Communications Squadron airman was charged Friday with attempted murder, stalking and vandalism, authorities said.
Airman 1st Class Chad A. Rhine was charged at the 100th Legal Office and returned to pretrial confinement at RAF Lakenheath, according to an Air Force court official.
Rhine is charged with attempting to break into the RAF Lakenheath home of Airman Karla Stith-Hopkins on Oct. 1, armed with a knife and with the intent to kill, according to Air Force court records.
Testimony at Rhine’s Article 32 hearing in December indicated that he allegedly began to harass Stith-Hopkins after she ended their relationship. She acknowledged receiving an Article 15 administrative punishment for her role in the extramarital affair.
Rhine had allegedly been stalking Stith-Hopkins before he tried to break into the home she shared with her husband, according to court records. He also allegedly vandalized two vehicles that belonged to the couple.
