One injured in gas line explosion at Air Force Academy

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Tribune News Service) — One person was injured after a gas line explosion at the Air Force Academy Tuesday morning.

Construction crews were working on a water line project when they hit a gas line at about 8:30 a.m. near the intersection of Douglas Loop and Interior Drive in Douglas Valley Housing, according to a news release from the Academy.

The person, who the Academy did not identify, was taken to a local hospital.

No other injuries were reported.

The specific cause of the explosion and extent of any possible damage was being investigated.
