(Tribune News Service) — The incident that led to McConnell Air Force Base being put on lockdown Tuesday started at around 6 a.m. when the driver of a stolen vehicle refused to stop at the gate, according to a news release.

“An underage civilian with no affiliation with the Department of Defense was apprehended after refusing to stop at the gate,” the release said. “Security measures in place stopped the vehicle. He fled on foot from the scene and was apprehended shortly thereafter.”

He was the only one in the vehicle, according to Air Force Lt. Kate Danner. The person is being questioned and the investigation is ongoing.
