American Forces Network is warning viewers that there will be brief disruptions in TV and radio service during the spring sun outage.

The seasonal sun outages started Tuesday, according to an AFN news release.

Outages will be longest and most severe from Saturday through March 10, subsiding March 11 and ending by March 14.

Customers could experience a loss of signal for as long as 20 minutes during the worst days.

Sun outages occur twice a year when satellites “eclipse” the sun and their signals are overpowered by solar radiation.

Depending on the number of satellite hops it takes for the AFN signal to arrive at its destination, some AFN customers may see temporary disruptions of their TV signal a few times a day during peak periods.
