CAMP ZAMA, Japan — Customers once told Army Air Force Exchange managers there wasn’t enough selection in DVDs.

Managers responded by expanding the Power Zone entertainment section in the exchange and adding more movies.

Ask and you shall receive — or at least be heard: That’s the rationale behind a monthly Meet the Manager program that puts store officials, including general manager Lorenzo Salgado, inside the exchange where customers can meet them and have requests heard.

“This is a program that AAFES has,” Salgado said. “We’re trying to provide the best customer service that we can.”

For two hours each month, Salgado or another manager will stand by to listen to requests and feedback.

“It’s an effective means of answering questions that our customers have,” he said. “It gives them an opportunity to meet the manager and discuss anything.”

Customers also can use comment cards to make suggestions or complaints.

The more people respond with feedback of any kind, the better the store can meet its customers’ needs, Salgado said.

The next Meet the Manager session will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Future sessions, all at the Camp Zama Post Exchange, will be Aug. 11, noon to 2 p.m.; Aug. 21, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.; and Aug. 25, noon to 2 p.m.
