AAFES in Europe to get new boss
The Army and Air Force Exchange Service is getting a new boss this week.
Army Col. Forrest C. Wentworth will take over as commander of the AAFES-Europe Region at a ceremony Thursday at Wiesbaden Army Airfield in Germany. AAFES-Europe headquarters is located nearby in Mainz-Kastel.
Wentworth succeeds Army Col. Shelley Richardson, who took command in July 2003. She will become commandant of the Army Logistics Management College in Fort Lee, Va.
A graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi, Wentworth was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the infantry in 1981. He later earned a master of science degree in human resource management from Troy State University in Montgomery, Ala. He recently had been deputy brigade commander and chief of staff for the 3rd Recruiting Brigade, Fort Knox, Ky.
The AAFES-Europe commander oversees an operation that employees some 10,500 people, including more than 400 who have voluntarily deployed in support of military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.
