SEOUL — Army officials have selected Brig. Gen. John W. Morgan III as next deputy commanding general of the 8th U.S. Army, according to a news release.

Morgan, who comes from Fort Lewis, Wash., also will serve as assistant chief of staff for operations for the U.N. Command, the Combined Forces Command and United States Forces Korea.

He succeeds Maj. Gen. James A. Coggin, who was tapped to be the next 2nd Infantry Division commanding general.

Information on when the change is to take place was unavailable on Saturday.
