SEOUL — The 8th Army commander was presented with a South Korean name during a ceremony last week, according to Army officials.
Suh Jin-sup, chairman of the ROK-U.S. Alliance Friendship Society, presented Lt. Gen. Charles C. Campbell with the name “Kim Han-soo” during a luncheon in the Dragon Hill Lodge.
According to the release, the name can be translated as “Great Defender of Korean Freedom and Peace from Yongsan.”
Campbell has been nominated to be deputy commanding general and chief of staff for U.S. Army Forces Command at Fort McPherson, Ga., and is expected to leave South Korea later this year.
