KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany — After serving nearly a year on active duty, Kaiserslautern’s Army Reserve 313th Rear Operations Center, a part of the 7th Army Reserve Command, will officially demobilize on Jan. 8.

The unit was mobilized on Jan. 9, 2003. On Jan. 21, 22 soldiers reported to Harvey Barracks in Kitzingen, Germany, to provide support to the 1st Infantry Division’s Division Support Command Intelligence and Operations sections. Four of the unit’s soldiers deployed to Turkey in February with the 1st Infantry Division in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

“When access to Turkey was denied to U.S. military units for a northern axis of advance, the 313th had its mission changed and returned home,” said Brig. Gen. Richard Tabor, 7th ARCOM commander in a release.

In April, the 313th was reassigned to the 21st Theater Support Command in Kaiserslautern, where its members supported the command’s logistics operations center for Operations Enduring Freedom, Noble Eagle and Iraqi Freedom.

Eight members of the 313th may remain on active duty for another year to provide support to the 21st TSC, said Col. J. Brelon Roney, 313th Rear Operations Center commander.
