The 4th Infantry Division, in charge of Multi-National Division-Baghdad, is losing one assistant commander and gaining another, the Army chief of staff announced Tuesday.

Brig. Gen. Thomas C. Maffey, assistant division commander for maneuver, based out of Fort Hood, Texas, is to become director of training for the Army’s Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff in Washington, D.C.

Maffey is replacing Brig. Gen. James M. Milano, who will become 4th ID’s assistant division commander at Fort Carson, Colo.

The 4th ID took over combat operations for MND-Baghdad from the 3rd Infantry Division late last year.

The 4th is split between Hood and Carson, with three brigade combat teams in Texas and the fourth in Colorado.
