VILSECK, Germany — The 405th Army Field Support Brigade activated the 2nd Army Field Support Battalion in a ceremony Friday at Rose Barracks.

The activation is part of the Army’s transformation in Europe, according to a press release from the brigade.

The new battalion will oversee U.S. Army Materiel Command operations in the Vilseck area. The unit will also provide logistical support for U.S. military forces deployed within the European Command’s area of operations, which includes Europe, most of Africa and parts of the Middle East.

The new battalion will be commanded by Lt. Col. Jordan Chroman.
