SEOUL — The current commander of the 2nd Infantry Division has been tapped to become an assistant deputy chief of staff for the U.S. Army in Washington, according to an announcement from the Pentagon this week.
Maj. Gen. George A. Higgins became the 2nd ID commander in September 2004.
His successor will be Maj. Gen. James A. Coggin, the current assistant chief of staff for operations for the U.N. Command, the Combined Forces Command and United States Forces Korea. He is also the 8th Army deputy commanding general. He arrived in August 2004.
