A 22nd Signal Brigade soldier was found dead in his room at Larson Barracks in Kitzingen, Germany, on Christmas Day, according to an Army release.

Army Pfc. John M. Steenge, 19, was found about 2 p.m. Sunday. He was assigned to the brigade’s Company C, 17th Signal Battalion.

The cause of Steenge’s death is under investigation, according to the release.

A native of Austintown, Ohio, Steenge is survived by his parents and a brother.

A memorial ceremony is planned, but a date has not been announced.
