VICENZA, Italy — A soldier with the 173rd Airborne Brigade was killed Tuesday when he apparently lost control of his motorcycle on the winding road to Asiago, military officials said.

The soldier, 25, has not been identified pending notification of kin.

The paratrooper apparently went into a skid at about 4 p.m. while negotiating hairpin turns on the Salita Del Cost, according to local media reports. He then hit a road sign. The soldier died at the scene.

The soldier was traveling with a friend on a second motorcycle who was uninjured, Caserma Ederle officials said.
