MANAMA, Bahrain — A total of 6,500 personnel and 38 warships from 44 navies are taking part in a U.S. 5th Fleet-led mine countermeasures exercise in the Middle East that runs through Nov. 13.

The third and largest so far, the exercise is aimed at promoting mine countermeasures and maritime security operations.
