KADENA AIR BASE, Okinawa — An airman assigned to Kadena Air Base was killed Saturday near the northern Okinawa city of Nago in a motorcycle accident.

The airman was pronounced dead at Hakuba Hospital at 2:33 p.m. His name is being withheld pending next-of-kin notification.

“When a tragedy like this occurs, every member of the wing feels it,” Brig. Gen. Ken Wilsbach, 18th Wing commander, said in a release. “We express our deepest condolences to his family and friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with them.”

This incident is under investigation, the release said.
