After several delays, the exchange at the Kaiserslautern Military Community Center at Ramstein Air Base, Germany, is slated to open at 9 a.m. on Monday.

Representatives from the Army and Air Force Exchange Service will speak during an 8:55 a.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The 165,000-square-foot store is billed as the largest AAFES exchange in the world, Ramstein spokesman Aaron Schoenfeld said. It is 2½ times larger than the base exchanges in Grafenwöhr or Stuttgart, currently the largest in Germany, according to AAFES personnel who will run the store.

The exchanges at Ramstein and Vogelweh will close permanently Sunday night.

The exchange’s opening has been pushed back several times due to construction problems.

Monday’s opening marks the completion of the KMCC project. The 844,000-square-foot facility also includes a 350-room hotel, movie theaters, shopping mall and restaurants.
