Nearly 500 sailors with six to 10 years of service are being released under the latest Perform-to-Serve program results, according to the Navy Personnel Command.

Out of the 489 sailors being separated, 192 indicated they did not intend to re-enlist; 213 are high-tenure E-3s and E-4s who’ve not been promoted after years in their current rank; and 84 are E-5s serving in overmanned ratings and weren’t rated as top performers on their most recent evaluations, according to a release.

Of the latest group of sailors selected for retention, more than 11,000 were allowed to remain in their current rating while about 375 are being converted to more critical ratings, the release said.

Sailors with more than six years of service who requested to re-enlist but were denied may be eligible for separation pay, the release said.

According to the Navy Personnel Command website, PTS is a manpower management program that requires sailors to receive approval before reenlisting. For more information, log on to www.npc.navy.mil or call 1-866-827-5672.
