A former Kubasaki High School science teacher was sentenced to 6½ years in prison Aug. 28 for raping and sodomizing two Kentucky junior high school students 30 years ago, according to the Fayette County, Ky., Commonwealth Attorney’s Office.
Jack Russell Hubbard, 62, was found guilty of four counts of third degree sodomy and one count of rape on July 14, the office said. He faced a maximum sentence of 25 years.
The charges stemmed from sexual-abuse allegations made by two students dating back to 1978, when Hubbard was a science teacher in Fayette County, according to media accounts.
Hubbard left Kentucky in 1981 and went on to teach in DODDS schools in Europe and Okinawa for 26 years, retiring in 2007. DODDS officials said there were no allegations from students stemming from his 18 years on Okinawa.
