Three soldiers with 5th Battalion, 7th Air Defense Artillery were released from a German hospital following an accident Saturday afternoon west of Mannheim, Germany, officials said Monday.
Two of the soldiers were released Saturday and another was released following overnight observation, according to Elke Herberger, a U.S. Army Europe spokeswoman.
The soldiers were traveling in a 5-ton truck as part of a convoy returning from training in Grafenwöhr, according to a USAREUR news release.
There were no other vehicles involved in the accident, which occurred around 1 p.m. at the Frankenthaler Kreuz interchange between highways 6 and 61.
Herberger said Monday that weather was not a factor in the accident, but the investigation has not been completed, so the exact cause has not been determined.
Troops’ COLA to rise in EuropeCost-of-living allowances in Europe will rise across the board during the last two weeks of May compared with the first half of the month.
For example, COLA for troops in England, Spain, Belgium, Germany, Turkey and Italy will rise an average of $49 per month for E-5s living off base with three dependents and 10 years’ service, according to the Department of Defense Per Diem, Travel and Transportation Allowance Committee Web site.
The cost-of-living allowance for civilians — known as post allowance — will remain unchanged for the rest of May.
